Street lights, big dreams all looking pretty

Happy new year from the US of A!

this means a lot to me, heading out and starting a new year away from home... i am blogging from CMU right now, and temperatures are incredibly low here, i am starting to miss new york terribly. ): i miss how warm it was (0 to -3 degrees) and its strange that i am saying this. i have a terrible sand paper-ish feeling in my throat, it must be the period, cold and the over consumption of coffee- starbucks coffee rather. every block has a starbucks and most of the time we're running into it to keep warm. i really like new york, its pretty hard to hate it, manhattan in particular. i thoroughly enjoyed walking to central park and times square, which were only ten blocks away in the cold.

above's pictures of central park on new years eve. there was snow even as we walked and you can see it fall on the top of my beanie! (: well, snow's pretty overrated. i woke up realizing it was snowing and was happy for about 2 minutes until i started walking in snow. it feels like slush and melted slurpie. not cool. but i must say i really love my uggs. kept me extremely warm!! i plan to get a high cut pair to reduce the dirtiness of my jeans.

had air sickness on the flight from doha to nyc, and i have no idea why... guess coz it was the consistent turbulence that made me throw up. :Z i haven't been air sick since primary school.. ):

met up with desmond on the second day and his fellow exchange mates from finland x2, denmark and london hahaha and we realised all our names began with D. -_- well it was very funny back then. the amount of people headed for countdown at times square was incredibly insane. i gave up and headed back to the hotel to sleep. but then we woke and realised that it was a once in a lifetime thing hahahaha so we headed out to W 54th and joined the other new yorkers and tourists waiting for the ball drop!! i must say i was incredibly overwhelmed by their zest and enthusiasm for the new year. apparently everyone gets here each year to see the iconic ball drop in times square. kinda regretted not heading there with desmond coz... haii... it would have been a lot more fun, but then again i feel bad for abandoning other people (I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO LAH). anyway times square was so crowded in the day that we could not even walk past 3 blocks. there was an insane amount of police officers and cars parked EVERYWHERE on manhattan because of the bomb threat.

on another note, when i came to new york i guess this song really meant something to me. check out the lyrics:

New York!!!!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can’t do,
Now you're in New York!!!
These streets will make you feel brand new,
the lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York
(: indeed.
a glipse of the countdown with the ball about to drop (top left hand corner!!)... (photos are all on facebook!!)

I'll talk more about new york soon, stay tuned!!
