just a random post before you knock off work.

well, i've been meaning to talk about this event for the longest time, but i never quite got down to it. as some of you may know, i was involved in the Garnier 16 skin tone search advert like in october which screened on channel u for like forever and got me so embarrassed for my whole entire semester in NUS. in december last year, Garnier called me down to compete with 48 other girls (sorta, but not really, i only had one competitor) for a spot on the Garnier 16.

the whole event was filmed and photographed, so it was a bit stressful making sure you ate properly (and not have more than one course) and have makeup on all the time. also, to be always ready to be photographed. i guess you learn over time, the correct pose and angle to make which makes you look slimmer, prettier etc, so that wasn't very hard for me besides i was trying to siam all the photographers because i didn't want to get featured too much and draw too much attention to myself. there were so many attention seeking ah lians there it was just plain disgusting. like some photogs would go "who wants to pose with our products?" and they'll be like rushing like starved dogs to them so eager to get a spot in the picture hahaha, quite a sight to behold. but then again most of them are freelance models.(:

so anyway here were the casting shots for one of the rounds that we had to go through. i placed them on my script while waiting for my round for the interview. i am aware i look super fair there- must say lighting does play a part HAHAHAHA.

anyway, i must say that i did not get a spot on the top 16 because of the exchange programme. am i upset about it? yes and maybe no. i was upset because ashley, the outsource marketing personnel, was very unprofessional about it, telling me that she wanted me to go since people already knew who i was both in Garnier and outside because of the commercial (-_- stop laughing i can totally tell). also, she said that it was okay "just tell them you can't go for the bangkok filming... it's ok, exchange won't be a factor".

during the interview i happily blurted out that i was on SEP to Pitt, so the place went to another contestant also in NUS arts. i was only told of this by aeron, one of my friends who was convincing me like crazy to go for it. and i was very upset, really, because she was the one who told me it was not gonna be a deciding factor, but there aeron was telling me that they really wanted me, if not for SEP.....

mega pissssseddd can. yeah before you think i'm being a sour grape, i have to explicitly say that i turned it down initially, since 5th december was pretty close to my departure date and i still had a lot on my checklist to do. i only gave in because aeron wanted me to go.

so yeah, story of my life. hahaha.

that was my group, group 2. i was pretty shocked that i was considered somewhat fair though. the WHOLE WORLD tells me i'm dark and it makes me pretty self conscious at times cos i know the marker of feminine beauty in singapore and asia is definitely being fair skinned. (p.s: the girl on my left was the one who beat me to skin tone 8!)

well, in US it's an entirely different thing!!! ;) hahahahahahhaha
am totally loving it. i wish i could run into parks and scream "YOU'LL NEVER BE NATURALLY TAN YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!"
