i'm half the world away and it sure doesn't feel like home.
new york was amazing, had an amazing time exploring the place with daryl, and it beats traveling with anyone else here, because i can totally whine and get my way (awesome), or oversleep and not feel bad. we got lost so much on the subway i wanted to just cry and cab to our destination. honestly i wouldn't mind spending $50 cabbing... we visited Ground Zero, Liberty Island, Broadway, Times Square, Central Park... and of course Dovetail (the lovely restaurant on Valentine's Eve), Fridays and outlet malls.
speaking of which, i am completely not proud of the way i was shopping and/or the damage done. it covered my entire bed when i unpacked. but at least i got my dad godiva, mom aigner and sister kate spade (i need to find out how to mail them safely to singapore).... and about kate spade.... that another time, i'm just really unhappy with what happened (and i refuse to talk about it) but all hail the amazing US return policy, hope it works tomorrow, when i get down to calling. i'll probably get my sister something from juicy instead.
sobs. nearly missed my flight too and i was so damn scared cos i had homework to submit tomorrow, so i left a whole bag of pretty m&ms which were meant to be split between lawrence and the CMU people.
that aside, i really enjoyed the getaway... away from stress, school and reality. when i came back, the tiredness just hit me like a tsunami. i can barely stand or walk straight.
when i got out of danny's car and unlocked the front door and headed to my room, i shouted "I'M HOME" only to realize that there was no one there and i actually swallowed my words. you have no idea how shitty it made me feel.... thank God for ZQ who came over 10 minutes later with a rose for me. that was quite sweet knowing that someone actually bothered to remember when i was coming back (: plus it was my first and only Valentine's Day flower!
oh and i found out that ZL restocked grape caprisun in my fridge!!!! (: (: (: and whilst he was carrying it back he dropped a tray of eggs and broke 3! awww it was so sweet! when i found out i gave him a hug (: makes me happy even though i didn't have an extremely warm welcome back.
anyhowwww, i'm off to bed... just had tv dinner and mario kart... wonderful combination. (: filled with joy, food and neighbourly love once again.
p.s: i was on the plane back to pitt and talking to a californian guy who asked "did you grow up on the east coast?"
and i was like "whaaaaaaat? no, i'm from singapore"
"oh how long have you been here then?"
"erm, two months? haha"
"really? you don't have an accent. i swear i thought you grew up in the US!"
!!!!!! :D:D:D i then began to explain how i can easily put on the US accent because i love watching american movies and tv shows plus i speak so much english and my friends are influenced by american popular culture as well. he was pretty amused LOL.
