while i was being a mere observer at the photocopier, it suddenly hit me and i was nauseous and my pupils dilated. i DO NOT want to become like my colleagues who sit at their desks from 8.30 to 6pm snacking, laughing at auntie jokes, looking like aunties, having flabby arms, spare tyres and a terrible fashion sense. i was so traumatized, the first thing i did when i got home was to change into my running attire and i ran a good 2.4k.
on another note, I ACTUALLY AM STARTING TO SPEAK MANDARIN AT WORK. i only speak mandarin to the mee pok vendor, my chinese teachers & tutors and my oral examiner. other than that i reply people in english.. sometimes even the chinese teacher. they make fun of my ang moh accent, which i do not think exists. yesterday, this indian nurse was fiddling with the ATM machine, and E was queuing behind her. then suddenly she turned to E and said "qing wen ni ke yi bang wo ma?" (can you pls help me?) and i thought the nurse mistook E for a china chinese. so anyway E replied in english, and the indian nurse said "transfer...money...transfer" okay so i joined in too, and E was asking her in english what exactly did she mean and all that. the horror of horrors came when she looked at E and said, "ni ke yi yong hua yu jiang ma?" (can you please talk to me in mandarin instead?) WHAT THE!?!?! (i was trying to discreetly close my jaw that dropped, pretending i had a nerve problem or something.)
E stood there stunned so i tried to help her in my A level E-grade chinese. note: TRIED. means i technically failed. but anyway I HAVE DISGRACED THE CHINESE RACE. *i deserved to be whipped by the emperor of China and sent into exile in mongolia*
